Season 2024 opening concert at The Music Estuary 11Feb 3pm

SYRINX vocal ensemble explore themes of light and hope, dissonance and crystalline harmonies. The programme ranges from Syrinx’s own arrangement of a 12th century plainchant by Hildegard to a wildly contrasting contemporary pieces

Cellist, Eleanor Streatfield (Sydney) will be joining them as an accompanist. And she will be featured as a soloist presenting Bach’s cello suite no. 4 and ‘Musique Du Soir’ by Latvian composer, Peteris Vasks for Cello and Organ.

The program takes its name from a choral piece by Australian composer Alice Chance. We are living in a strange time, full of darkness and difficulty for many people near and far. Our fervent hope: FIAT LUX – Let there be light.

Rainbow Spirit Altar Frontal

The Rainbow Spirit depicted on Alter at St Mary’s is a symbol of our Creator God, the eternal source of life, for Aboriginal Christians. In this Diocese we are working to encourage and foster reconciliation with the traditional owners of the lands on which we gather and worship. This Rainbow Spirit altar frontal is one way to show in a very visual way that we want to learn from and connect with the Bundjalung people. The frontal is an artwork created by two local Wiradjiri women who have been most generous in sharing their artistic gift with us.
